So the useful question isn't "do I have termites." It's which piece of evidence did you find, because there are six, they don't all mean the same thing, and they sit at very different points on the timeline.
Two of them mean a colony is actively feeding right now. Two mean it was. One means a colony has reached reproductive maturity and is spreading. And one means somebody already knows and didn't tell you.

What it meansA colony reached reproductive maturity and sent out swarmers. Colonies generally don't swarm until they've been established for several years.
Where they came from matters enormouslyWings inside the building point at a colony in or under the structure. Wings outside may be from a neighbouring colony that hasn't reached you yet — still worth acting on, but a different conversation.
UrgencyHigh, and time-sensitive. Swarmers appear seasonally, so a sample collected now is worth more than a description in six weeks.
Dark-bodied winged insects emerging inside, usually near a window or light in the first warm, humid stretch of the year.
What it meansThe same as discarded wings, but you've caught it as it happens. Collect a few in a sealed bag or container. This is the single most useful thing you can hand a technician, because it settles species identification immediately — and species decides the treatment.
Termites eat from the inside out and leave the surface intact.
How it presentsWood that sounds hollow when tapped, gives under moderate pressure from a screwdriver, or has thin blistered surfaces. Trim, door frames, window sills, baseboards, sill plates, and joists near ground contact.
What it meansFeeding has been going on long enough to remove structural material. Urgency: high, and it's the point at which a second trade becomes involved.
Moisture and movement inside the wood behind the finish. It isn't specific to termites — water damage produces the same signs — but the two frequently occur together, because the conditions that attract termites are moisture conditions.
UrgencyWorth investigating rather than panicking. This is the one that most often turns out to be something else, and we'd rather establish that than treat a leak with insecticide.
Small pellets of hard, ridged, roughly uniform droppings, often in a neat pile beneath a tiny hole in wood.
What it meansDrywood termites, which is a different pest with a different treatment from the subterranean species that produce mud tubes. Getting this distinction wrong is the most consequential identification error in termite work.
A previous treatment nobody told you about. Drill holes filled in a slab edge or a garage floor, old bait stations in the yard, or a sticker on the electrical panel. If you find any of those, say so. It changes the history of the property and it may mean a warranty exists.
This is the part that separates termite work from every other pest service, and it needs saying plainly.
Treatment stops future damage. It does not repair past damage. Killing a colony returns nothing to the wood it has already eaten. Those are two separate jobs with two separate budgets, and the second one belongs to a carpenter or a contractor rather than to us.
Stopping the colony is ours. Assessing and repairing structural damage is a builder's. Preventing the next colony is shared — our barrier or bait system, plus the moisture and wood-contact conditions on your property.
We'll tell you what we found and where, and where it looks structural rather than cosmetic, we'll say that too. But whether a joist needs sistering or replacing is a structural question, and anyone answering it with a sprayer in their hand is answering outside their trade.

Need consistently wet wood. A leak, a drainage problem, or persistent ground contact. Correcting the moisture source frequently addresses the infestation more effectively than any product.

Place stations in the soil around the property. Foragers find them, feed, and carry the active ingredient back — and because it acts slowly, it spreads through the colony before killing it.
StrengthsColony elimination rather than exclusion, minimal drilling, and ongoing monitoring built into the service.
LimitationsSlower, because it depends on foraging termites finding the stations, and it requires an ongoing service relationship — the stations have to be checked and maintained to do anything.
Combined approaches are common, particularly where a structure needs immediate protection and a colony needs eliminating.

Basement. Entry through cracks, penetrations, and the joint where floor meets wall. Finished basements are the hard case — the wall covering is the barrier to inspection.
Pier and beam. Good access, and the piers are inspectable, but multiple ground contact points each need attention.
Additions and extensions deserve their own paragraph, because the joint between original structure and addition is one of the most common entry points there is — and a treatment done before the addition existed won't cover it.
